Collection: Nathaniel K. Gibbs

Born in 1948 and raised in Baltimore, Gibbs earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1975, followed by a Master of Fine Arts from American University in 1981. Gibbs reached regional acclaim during his lifetime and now his work is being collected by discerning buyers everywhere.

Gibbs was invited to show his work of African American life at Monticello through the Thomas Jefferson Foundation. Other important works include a commission by Johns Hopkins University for a portrait of Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall, and a commissioned portrait of Clarence H. “Du” Burns by Baltimore City Hall.

Gibbs passed away in 2018.
