Artist Statement: Working primarily in painting, drawing, and printmaking, Josias Figueirido channels personal and social dilemmas into biographical and fictional narratives. His highly personal images present us with situations of both struggle and humor.
Artist Bio: Josias Figueirido is an artist from Spain currently based in Laredo, Texas .He received an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia (2017), a Post-Graduate Diploma in Drawing from the Royal Drawing School in London (2010), and a BA in Fine Arts from London Metropolitan University in London (2008). Figueirido has exhibited his work both nationally and internationally, attended various art residencies such as Vermont Studio Center and Millay Arts, and recently received a NEA grant for a collaborative project.
